Carbon tetrafluoride
Product Details
1. Chemical Properties
At room temperature, carbon tetrafluoride is a colorless, odorless, non‑flammable gas that is highly compressible and exhibits relatively high volatility. It is one of the stable organic compounds and is poorly soluble in water. At 900°C, it does not react with copper, nickel, tungsten, or molybdenum; it only undergoes slow decomposition at carbon arc temperatures. It is slightly soluble in water, with a solubility of 0.0015% (by weight) at 25°C and 0.1 MPa. However, when burned in the presence of flammable gases, it decomposes to produce toxic fluorides.
